Dear Friends,

As the 2015-16 school year begins I would like to provide you and your students with a little information about student achievements through MTJAVA. The conclusion of the 2014-15 year marked exciting and rewarding milestones for More Than Just A Village Academy Incorporate (MT JAVA) including the beginning/ending of its third full year of service helping youth and communities through Civic responsibility, Academic achievement, and Personal accountability utilizing our blend of education and service learning programming.

Last year, we engaged more than 64 students, helped 56 individual high school students remain in school, increase school attendance, increase grades, become positively engaged in their neighborhoods, seek post-high school education/funding, expand program offering to North High and become more socially aware of their impact/responsibility to others and themselves. This has allowed students to contribute more than 1760 service learning/volunteer hours to the greater Omaha area! What will these students do next?

In the coming year, we will expect to engage 70-80 Benson & North High School students and expand program service areas to include Northwest and Central High Schools as well as pilot a peer-to-peer mentoring program between our high school youth and youth at Monroe Middle School during the second semester. Students will also engage their community and primary school students in exciting after-school activities throughout city and at our new program partner facility “Scatter Joy Acres” ranch exploring several STEM based learning activities.

While many things changed during our third year of programming, others remained the same; our commitment to youth, community and our mission:

To be a company that implements genuine care, respect and courtesy for teens, parents and each other.

To be the premier resource of youth leadership development, while meeting the needs of   the children, parents, schools and communities we serve.

To enrich the lives of students as they become young adults, while working as a team toward common community and civic goals.

I am truly excited to begin working with our youth and hope you are equally excited. You are encouraged to find a way to get involved, suggest volunteer projects, volunteer or donate. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
