Philosophy

MT JAVA is guided by the C.A.P.  Philosophy (Civic, Academic, Personal growth) and believes that through hard work, support, and perseverance students can reach the top of each.

CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY – I am part of my community and it is a reflection of me

ACADEMIC RESPONSIBILITY – I will always do my best to excel in all my academic endeavors, be they in a classroom or in other learning environments

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY – I will use my successes AND failures to help me grow into a responsible, caring and courageous adult

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to improve academic performance and graduation rates, increase civic and community responsibilities among students most at risk of incarceration while empowering them to reach their maximum potential. With the aid of staff, community, and volunteers, students will be better prepared for high school and post high school successes while learning to overcome societal stereotypes, limitations, possible parental absences, lowered expectations, or challenges in education while growing and demonstrating their leadership skills. This will be achieved by fostering partnerships with existing schools, community leaders, businesses, and by creating new evidence-based programs to develop a comprehensive, community-based network of services and stakeholders among Village supporters.

MT JAVA is a school-based community program, let's hear from the community
